Abstract
In this study, simulation of turbulent flow in two dimensional contracting-expanding geometry of pipelines has been studied by using COMSOL MULTIPHYSICS 3.4 . In such geometry, due to sudden expansion, achieving flow pattern of fluid is the significant agent. In this research, axial and radial velocities has been compared in the different slices of expanded pipe. Validation of computational result was done by comparing them with experimental results. It was found that the standard model which was used for this flow pattern, is a good turbulent predictor of hydrodynamic velocity in contracting-expanding geometry.
