B-Enaminones have been extensively used as valuable precursors in organic synthesis[1, 2] and represent useful synthetic building blocks for the synthesis of amino acids, [3]peptides[4], alkaloids[5] and heterocyclic compounds[6]. The aim of the present work is the synthesis and full assignment of the vibrational spectra of 3-amino-1-phenyl-2-buten-1-one (AKBA) by means of density functional theory (DFT) studies. The calculated geometrical parameters for AKBA will be compared with the X-ray results and the calculated vibrational frequencies are compared with those observed experimentally.
